Working diligently behind the scenes

Hi everybody!  Been bizzy az a bee lately?  Me too!

Isn't it interesting (or "funny," or amazing, or ironic) how a disaster in one country can affect so many areas of another country?  My agency has really been focused on the past few days; my chairman was at a senate hearing all day yesterday, and gave interviews late into the evening.  Almost every office is being affected -  from the chairman to public affairs to the web staff (my area) to the operations center to the reactor engineers ... Our agency's public website has gotten so many hits, that the company which records the traffic has started sending us updates every day, rather than once a week.

Of course, we gladly lend our expertise and we're all praying for the citizens of Japan; I was just sharing a bit of behind the scenes insight.

On a more personal level, I did get some more fabric cut for the African ribbons quilt I'm working on:
I'm trying to use up all this group of fabrics, so I'm not adding any more unless I really have to.  Somehow I think I'll have plenty to finish the quilt!

While I had my hands in the fabric I went ahead and pulled more blue and green scraps for a project I need to do for next month:

They don't look very interesting now, but wait til you see them in their final setting... from wrinkled duckling to dressed-up swan!

Also, the one project I've been working on so diligently lately has been quilted, I just need to add the binding and a few embellishments...

I'll decide just what it needs when I've looked at it awhile.  I hate binding!  I wish there were a sensible alternative.

That's it for now... sew forth and sew on til later!

  1. Interesting teases. I'm glad to see another who pulls scraps - they are wrinkled wads. That's the way I 'store' mine - I'll press them out with a little starch when ready to use.

  3. LOL...Linda I am so binding-challenged. I don't like it at all. I have so many quilted tops with no binding that I am trying to convince my friend Carrie to do them for me. She loves binding -- yuck! I love the African fabrics..can't wait to see the quilt. Penny

  4. Can't wait to see the one with the embellishments! I store my scraps that way, too! Sigh. I wish I were more organized!
