Unveiling day

Three things to be happy about:
(1) pink lemonade
(2) Saturdays in the park
(3) the sound of flip-flops

What do today's three happy things have in common?  A barbecue!

Today is the annual Friend and Family Day at the Michigan Park Rec Center, where my bee meets.  There will be plenty of good food and a sound stage outside; inside the center there'll be a DJ and dancing.

This is the day when our challenge quilts get unveiled, and I can't wait to see what everybody has done with traditional blocks!  We had to make a quilt using traditional blocks such as Spider Web, Jacob's Ladder, Shoo Fly, 9-Patch, Churn Dash and so forth - no art quilts allowed this time!

We're to place our quilts in a plain paper bag with no labels identifying the name of the block or the owner.  Visitors will get to enjoy a nice quilt show, then have fun guessing the name of the pattern and vote on their favorite quilts.  Also on display will be other quilts our Bee members have made but not displayed in the past.

So until tomorrow's post, my quilt is a secret in a brown paper bag!

Sew forth and sew on

  1. Well I loved you list of 3 - but now intriqued with the 'quilt in a bag' - very clever idea. Looking forward to seeing all the quilts.

  3. Your day sounds like so much fun! I'll just bet its a lot cooler in Michigan right now than it is here in south Texas! I would love to see all the quilts in your unveiling!
