A beautiful community day

... or friend and family day, same thing! We had a beautiful day for it at the Michigan Park Rec Center located in northeast Washington, DC.

The day was bright and sunny, and it felt really good sitting under the trees with the breezes blowing - we had us a right "quilt airing!"

Here are some of the challenge quilts for this year, all made with traditional blocks:

and the first place for viewer's choice is.....

Pat, with her Spider Web quilt.  Way to go, Patty D!!

As always, we had good food with scrumptious desserts!  Inside the center there were exhibits, music, bingo and a kiddie fashion show while outside the kids loved the moon bounce and body painting, and Miss Washington, DC Senior stopped by.

This year Wee Bee Quilters offered door prizes which included small quilts and movie tickets.  The first one (movie tickets) was won by a Howard University dental school student; I think he liked the tickets better than he would have liked a wall hanging.

It was a wonderful Friend and Family day, as usual... and as usual at the end of it I was good and tired!

Sew forth and sew on
