Cutting for a cruise

Three things to be happy about:
(1) Indian corn arrangements
(2) stunning fall foliage
(3) leaves swirling in the wind

You know it's fall when you start to see Indian corn arrangements, both inside and outside the home!  I love those arrangements.

Take a look at some of the fabric I've cut lately, getting ready for my cruise with Bonnie Hunter and Pat Sloan in three weeks.  As I mentioned in an earlier post, we are to bring fat quarters that we can supplement with 2" and 3-1/2" strips from our strip bins.   Because my already-cut strips are mostly in the 2-1/2" size, I decided to bring a few fat quarter cuts and then take this opportunity to cut  more 2" strips from yardage for maximum scrappiness!

So, if you're going on the cruise and if  we're in the same group, these are some of the colored fabrics you may have a chance at swapping for...

Just one or two fat quarters -

do you see the romantic couple on the right?  ooo-la-la!  I see houses and some African fabrics too!

and look at the strips!

They're arranged too close together to see every design, but I took this as a prime opportunity to get rid of some "uglies"... look at that black strip with the bright stars - yuck!  There's a sort of gold piece I'll be glad to see the end of, and those bananas...

I also threw in some Christmas fabrics -  I see elves on a green background and birds inside frames (that blue piece two over from the bananas); there's some cavemen in there, some gift tags, prehistoric horses and zebras.  There's a little bit of paisley in there that I got in a Keepsake Quilting scrapbag.  Actually the sandals on the yellow fabric are sorta cute!  There's geometric fabric in there, and some limes (I guess) at the near end in two colorways.  I see a wee strip of cheddar too!

I've been cutting a strip here and a strip there... I still have more to cut, to make sure it equals the amount of FQ's we need.  Those are the colored fabrics; neutrals still to come!

Have a great day... sew forth and sew on til later

  1. Oh so jealous - Bonnie and Pat cruise. Just love what you are pulling, some real fun there. Great idea to get rid of uglies - but they hide and blend so nicely in scrap quilts.
