A pleasant afternoon

...despite the rain!

Yesterday was our annual WeeBee Quilters cookout, held at Cornelia's house this year.

Now I thought this doohickey was interesting...
it's an inflatable raft-like container that can be filled with ice to hold cold foods.  It's probably been "out there" for awhile but this is the first time I've seen one.

And oh yeah, because we're quilters, we "ate good!"  We're talking salads, two kinds of ribs, veggies, rotisserie chicken, peach pie, gingerbread - everything was delicious, and Felicia's ribs were falling-off-the-bone good!  BTW, quilters always eat good and have the best recipes.  Just sayin'  ;o)

Back outside, Cornelia did her thing on the grill - roasted corn and grilled chicken!

The steamed crabs were nice and fat!

(Now this is the only way I  will eat steamed crabs:  if someone would sit beside me and pound and crack and pick, then hand me the meat, I'll eat it.  I'll even dredge it through the butter by myself.  Otherwise, you can forget it!)

But Pat, Shirley, Felicia, Charlene and Loretta took care of em!

While Jackie, Lynora, Carolyn and Nadine ate jumbo spiced shrimp...

Chocolate stout, anyone??
yeeech!

As always it was great to spend time together; heavy rains came and washed us inside for a little while but that didn't matter, it was only a minor nuisance - you can't keep the WeeBees down!

Sew forth and sew on til later...

  1. Too much effort to eat crabs but those shrimp look good. Could you send the rain here?

  2. Oh no, the crabs are well worth the effort in my book. We go crabbing and then all sit together on a picnic table and pick the meat out of the shells with melted butter for each of us to sample as we go. Yum!! so delicious!! Your day looked really good and that inflatable "doohickey" looks really handy too. Wonder where they got it.

  3. Y'all just like to tease me, if you let me know in advance, just maybe I can "fly" home and attend. Oh, I know, I'll host the next annual event here in California. Yeah, that's what I'll do. lol. I miss my Maryland quilting buddies. Debbra

  5. Sorry I did not get to come. We had worked up an appetite. Looking at what was served I would have enjoyed it. Bern and I left George's Upholstery Shop around 7:45 p.m. Bern's wing back chair turn out beautiful. My kitchen chair is awesome. The upholstery class offered at the Fabric Peddler went beyond our expectations.
