  1. I like small quilts because I can actually finish them and move on to another project. Also I get to hang them up or use them on a small table and admire them longer.

  4. I like small quilts because they are more likely to actually get finished - LOL. The pieced backgrounds look great by the way. I don't have a blog to link this to, but I am adding you to my Google Reader now.
Oh, and I love Petunia, but the Water Bearer is very nice too.

  11. I love small quilts for several reasons. First of all, they are a quick fix if I'm dying to sew but can't commit to a large project. Secondly, they just go anywhere! I love them on tables, the backs of a chair, hanging on the wall, or off of a shelf. So many possibilities! Thank you for the contest!

  19. Thanks for sharing your crummy background ideas. I will definitely try it out on my next small quilt. Making small quilts is very fulfilling for me. I enjoy the process and completing the project in considerably less time than making a large quilt. Thus bringing complete satisfaction for me and lovely gifts for my friends and family.

  24. Hello everybody, I'm glad to see your comments! Last night I was a victim of Murphy's Law... I wanted to put numbers on the comments but I couldn't get on the internet! So, I'll do that tonight and I hope it picks up all the comments, else I'll have to print out and number by hand? eeyeow!

    Good luck everyone!

    ReplyDelete
  26. I have only done a mug rug which I consider a small quilt. I think when I need a sense of accomplishment, these work well. In a few hours, I've accomplished something. I'll have to try to make a small quilt. Thanks for the inspiration and an opportunity to win. I like Petunia.

  32. I love the your idea for crumbs! I have only made one smal quilt and working on another along with my other projects - some cannot have just one project going.
My favrate is Petunia of course he is so cute!

    ReplyDelete
  33. I love to make small quilts as my favorite quilting method is applique. Thanks for the idea of making background fabric. I love the look! I save every crumb of fabric so this is a great way to use them up. Petunia is my favorite. It would be so cute in a child's room. Thanks for the giveaway.

  34. I like small quilts because you don't get bogged down making the same block over and over. Plus they are easier to display. And I can easily quilt them in my machine.

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  46. I have become a follower and am so happy to have found your blog.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Linda, I have been a follower since you started the blog. I like small quilts because they are easy to finish. sometimes I get bored making the same block so many times. I am not fond of machine quilting large quilts. I have to give it to someone else who loves it. I love instant gratification. You make so many beautiful quilts while working 9 to five, I can't wait to see the quilts during your retirement.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Just found your blog at stash manicure and enjoyed your post. I will be a follower now.

    ReplyDelete
  49. I like small quilts because I can find room to hang them easier than the larger ones. I give away a lot of mine and the people I give them to have the same space problems. Plus I think I like that they are finished so much faster. I just love your pig quilt. Thanks for the chance to win.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Small quilts are easier for me to quilt and embellish than larger ones. Also I can finish the quilt all by myself.

    ReplyDelete
  57. I have always liked small quilts because I put them on my wall as art and I get to change my art whenever I want. Besides, it takes less time to hand quilt a small quilt than it does to hand quilt one made for the bed.

    ReplyDelete
  58. I VERY much enjoyed your tutorial...I am already a follower, and the weee piggy is my favorite.

  59. I love the Water Bearer. I have a yellow wall that needs a quilt. I haven't made one for it yet and this would fill the space very nicely.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Love the idea of how to use the crumbs. I've been saving anything over one inch having no idea what I could do with them, just knowing I didn't want to throw them away. This is a great idea for a project with my granddaughter who also likes to play with fabric pieces. Both quilts are beautiful, but I think I like Petunia best. I have limited sewing time, so I love small quilts. I use them as table toppers and wall hangings.

    ReplyDelete
  61. I love doing small quilts as I can actually finish them. I work full time and help raise 2 great grandbabies so my quilting time is limited. Love Petunia.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Both very nice but I like Petunia better! Thanks for the chance!

    ReplyDelete
  63. I got here from Stashmanicure. Great idea about background creation from crumbs.

Are you the historian for your quilt group? If not you should be. You did a great job chroicaling the retreat. Sounded like a wonderful time.

    I've enjoyed visiting. Selina

  64. Small quilts are fast to make, use up scraps, make great gifts and don't take up much wall space. I really like Petunia!!

    Thanks for the chance

  65. I've always enjoyed making small quilts, in part so that I can try new ideas and designs without making a large quilt. Most of my small quilts have been hand appliqued. Small ones also make good gifts--but first I find out if my relative(s) would like one!
It's also nice to know that a small quilt will be done fairly quickly. And small wall quilts are just right for quick redecorating.
    Thanks.

  67. I love the water bearer! The woman's figure is just right for the small quilt; the fabrics couldn't be better.
Thanks very much for your description on how you make your scrap backgrounds.

  70. I love small quilts because I can start and finish one in a reasonable time - I can also try out a new technique to see if I could love it long term!

Love both your quilts, but the water bearer really speaks to me!!

    ReplyDelete
  71. I love the Water Bearer the best. Small quilts are great to try out a technique without a huge investment in time and materials to see whether you like it or not.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Thanks for the crumbs tutorial -- the directions are clear, and the results look great!

I like small quilts . . . because I can try something that is out of my comfort zone "safely" . . . because I can sample/practice new techniques (eg, photo transfer, couching) . . . because they can showcase the vibrant colors I love . . . and best of all, because they are less likely to become UFO"s!! I

It's probably no surprise to you that I like both small quilts, but give the edge to the Water Bearer!

  73. Thanks for the great tutorial at Stash Manicure. I just love your little Petunia quilt - she has so much personality. I love small quilts, I don't have much wall space, so small quilts are easy to find a place for in my house. My absolute favorite quilt I've made so far is a babydoll quilt for my grandbaby - 1" blocks and HST's -- my guild friends think I'm crazy, LOL.

  74. I love the pieced background idea. Thanks for sharing. Patunia is adorable.

I love small quilts because you can get so creative with embellishing them and hang them up to enjoy.

  78. Hi! I am a follower. I've read your blog previously, but I guess I didn't sign up as a follower at that time. Silly me. Small quilts? I must confess, as useful as large quilts are...my heart loves small quilts. I've made many. Those seem to be the ones I am motivated to completed. ADD? I don't know. By the way, I LOVE the "Crummy (or crumby) Background" idea...I'm also a scrap lover. It adds such depth to the background, rather than one solid fabric...and uses scraps!!
Favorite? I like both...but Petunia reminds me of my mother...in a good way! She collected pigs throughout her life, so whenever I see little pig figurines or on quilts or fabric...I fondly think of my mother!

PS: I will mention you at my blog!
