The Color Purple
I recently downloaded The Color Purple to my iPod. Although I've seen the movie several times, I've never read (or in this case listened to) the actual book. I was inspired to share this video - enjoy!
I think that most people have seen the movie. I actually read the book this summer too. I was blown away. The book is a completely different story! It actually made me mad that when they made the movie they shorted Alice Walker's wonderful story! More people should read it- and more people should listen. ;)
We saw the play last fall. The only reason we went was because it was included with our season subscription, otherwise we wouldn't have gone. But the music was awesome! A lot of times when you see a musical, the actors are chosen for their acting and dancing. The actors in the play we saw could certainly act and dance, but their singing was amazing! I'd love to see this play again.
I have read the book a couple of times, but haven't seen the movie. The book is so powerful, I just couldn't imagine making a movie out of it. Thanks for sharing this clip.
