Moving right along

Hello everybody, I see we have new followers, welcome!   *big wave*

Three things to be happy about:
(1) a bowl of Cheerios
(2) the pendulum on a clock
(3) a groundhog when you need one

I heard something on the radio yesterday that they couldn't find a "living, breathing" groundhog anywhere and they might have to substitute a stuffed one.  It was probably a joke but really - can you imagine??  Somehow good ole Punxsutawney Phil made his appearance yet again!

Thanks everybody for your congratulatory comments, I was so happy to be a part of this month's Sew We Quilt banner!  I took the quilt to the studio Monday, then around midnight I woke up and realized I had meant to attach earrings and forgot, eeeeeeek!  Nobody but me will know the difference and it's not necessary to the design of the quilt, yet it is  a little creative thing I wanted to do.  The way that sistah's ears are sticking out, they need  something  hanging off em...

I haven't blogged for a couple days but I've been busy behind the scenes, tidying, cutting, sorting and just a little sewing.

I put labels on more of my non-stash containers so I won't have to do the pull-and-dig exercise when I'm looking for something...
small thing but it makes a difference!

I'm still cutting for x and + blocks, along with the other sized strips.  This is really going to be a scrappy quilt, I'm cutting up lots of colors and patterns!  To hurry the kitting up process along, I've started marking the pieces I'll use for the corners of the 3-1/2" squares, as I cut them...
I'm planning on a variety of lights and brights for those corners, each finished block needs eight of these.

I'll start making the kits after I've cut a lot more, for maximum variety.  I'm thinking of a 7 x 8 arrangement, with whatever border size(s) I need to make a throw size.   I've made four blocks, and they're turning out to be 8" unfinished  (7-1/2" finished), so 56 blocks should be enough.

These envelopes will come in hand to hold the pieces for each block...
I was about to toss em, but I figure why not recycle at least once?  The pieces will fit perfectly in there, I won't need to pin them together, and I don't need to actually see what's in the envelope before sewing.  It's a good thing.

Well, laundry is calling me, I better answer!  You all have a great day - sew forth and sew on

  4. Love the bits of organization - good habit to get into as it does speed up the whole process. And, you just plain don't lose things. I have spent the day catching up on my sleep.
