More play time

Three things to be happy about:
(1) an intuitive cook
(2) fresh spinach
(3) ham and cheese omelet

(I think somebody's ready for breakfast!)

Can these three pieces play nicely together?

I've been doing structured work lately, now it's time to play some more!

Let's see about these three pieces...

I got all three in a bag of scraps (thanks, Deb!!) and I wanted to create a free-form quilt with them.  The 25-patch was part of a strip...
that I unpicked a unit from and added little mini-sashes to make a single long strip...
I didn't get a picture of the strip before I cut it apart, you'll see it later...

This is a block I made in November 2013 from leftover 2-1/2" pieces (see it here) that I didn't like and knew I wasn't going to use...

I sliced and diced it...

it's got possibilities!

Here are my parts and pieces so far, not necessarily in the right places...
The little one at the top started out as the green 9-patch, the long strip on the right was made from the 25-patch and sliced vertically.  Who knows how this free-form quilt will grow and transform!

In case I don't blog again this week, I'm on my way to Las Vegas on Sunday morning (6:55 am flight *yawn*) for a week with my sister and a friend.    And as they say - what happens in Vegas ... gets reported on my blog!

Sew forth and sew on til later...

  1. Your nine patch looks much better after having been slashed. When I don't like a quilt block, creative cutting is my go-to method.

  3. I love to "Slice & Dice". I think it's the best cure for 'meh' blocks. Always amazed at how interesting they become after a little surgery. Have a wonderful time in Vegas.

  4. wow -- I don't think I would have had the nerve to slash those apart like that. Can't wait to see what you do with them.

Vegas in the summer? Are you nuts?
