(1) a smart phone
(2) vintage clothing
(3) a red stapler
I don't have a smart phone or a red stapler or vintage clothing, so I'll be happy about the progress I'm making on my x and plus quilt... even though it's a bit slow.
These are all the blocks I've finished so far, in no particular order...
I know I'm going to be satisfied with this quilt and I still believe it'll be a fuss-free quilt because of the scrappiness which, as you know, I love!
To save time I've been adding corners to a bunch of the 3-1/2" squares (the "x" part), whatever looked good, then matching them up with pre-sewn "plus" parts, but it's not working out the way I imagined.
Some of the fabric combinations don't look so great; time to make a decision...
I think my challenge comes when I use different color values for the "x" pieces... maybe I should stick with all light or all medium or all dark for a single block.
The main thing is, I think I might need to work on just one block at a time but hey, I'm not in a hurry!
We'll see, but I figure I'll need about 90 blocks for a 9 x 10 layout, so the ones I've already done will fit in with the new ones - whether they want to or not!
Photographs really give you a good idea of how blocks look together...
Gotta watch those ugly fabrics though - they're still ugly! Sew forth and sew on til later, got more x-ing to do...
Oh, I love the mix you you have - makes this scrapper happy.
ReplyDeleteI agree!!! Great choice of colour going on.
ReplyDeleteWhat is it Bonnie always says, "if it's still ugly you just haven't cut it small enough."
ReplyDeletex = + x blocks = a great quilt. I know because I have one and am thinking of making another. I really love the scrappyness. just play with the arrangement. (my son in DC helped me sort mine)
ReplyDeleteI'm loving thus quilt! Mine - I'm finding myself squashing the urge to rip apart some of my same color, same value blocks I recieved back from a block swap & respect the makers decision to put (some?) Of my fabrics (I gave them some, encouraged swapping theirs, giving variety)... together as they wished. I'm leaving them.
ReplyDeleteI will respect their choice....
Unless I change my mind!
What a fun colorful quilt and I love fun colorful quilts. This is an interesting block that I've not seen before, it's perfect for the fabrics you've used.
ReplyDeleteLove this colorful quilt. Looks great.
