Guild meeting

Three things to be happy about:
(1) anticipation
(2) fluffy slippers
(3) fluffy pillows

When's the last time you replaced your bed pillow?  Say whaaaaat????  If you're like me, chances are it's time for a change!  There was a blurb on the news one morning about how often you need to replace your pillows ... I don't know what the time period was, but I'm sure it wasn't every 5 years (or when your pillow won't plump anymore)!

Now on to the good stuff!

I just love looking at quilts, don't you?  These are pictures I took at my guild's September meeting, two weeks ago.

Jackie likes to make free-form quilts and she knows just how to put the right pieces together, that make them pop!
She uses left over fabric, leftover blocks - whatever it takes.  These two quilts will be on display at the SewExpo in Fredericksburg, VA this coming weekend.

As one of our community service projects this year we're making pillowcase dresses for third-world countries; Azalia shows one here:

More quilts and flimsies:

It was another great guild meeting with wonderful people, showing beautiful quilts!

Have a great day - sew forth and sew on til later!

Keeping it alive

Three things to be happy about:
(1) friends and family
(2) technology
(3) playing "remember when"

I want to share a video with you today that I talked about here.  Antoinette Ford, founder and President of Double Nickels theater company, created a You Tube video that pays homage to senior quilters, and the art of quilting itself.  Toni believes that quilting in it's purest form should not only be kept alive, but also kept in the forefront.

Enjoy the video; it was made partly at a senior center in Southeast Washington, at our Wee Bee meeting, and in Sandy Hassan's quilting studio.

Sew forth and sew on til later!

Wee Bee show and share

Three things to be happy about:
(1) auction catalogs
(2) writing a haiku
(3) a fresh pedicure

Pictures, I have more pictures!

I have show n tell from our Wee Bee meeting last Saturday...  First up is Shirley!

I love these colors and the layout, I think she made this in a class taught by Charlene at the senior center.  I have a bunch of red and yellow HSQ's that I cut out using my GO cutter and they're now resting happily beneath my bed.

Pat K (right) wanted to use her large print without cutting it too small to see the pattern:

Fear the turtle!  Loretta fell in love with this pattern when she saw it at a show...

Sandy was just doodling around and she made this one -
we were saying "workshop! workshop!"

And last but not least, Yetunde made this for a departing co-worker:
isn't it clever to use co-workers' pictures as a memory?

I know the recipient will love it!

I wanted to share these pictures with you before I forgot - our bee is made up of some talented ladies!
I also have pictures from this month's guild meeting but that's it for now, sew forth and sew on til later!
