Quilts! Quilts! Quilts!

Three things to be happy about
(1) neighbors returning after a long absence
(2) looking at postcards
(3) red plastic drinking cups

There's nothing cuter than the Sunbonnet kids, especially if they're at a quilt show - looking at a quilt show!  Or would that be Ma and Pa Sunbonnet?  I guess the kids would have had a Ma and Pa at some point, eh?

The one on the right seems to be an old fashioned diner scene.

The quilt at bottom right gives me ideas about using theme/pictorial fabric.  Just fussy cut some parts you like and applique them, you have a small quilt!

The next two want to go together for some reason...

Jalapeno jelly rolls!

I like the layout of these...

hmmm.   whatever happened to my "one four-inch block a day" project???

What's a quilt show without a large applique quilt or two?

pretty!

Cobblestones revisted!
I'll have to do some more of these, the design layout can go so many ways!

The lights made it hard to photograph some of the quilts, but I got these!

This storm at sea is pretty...
I wonder how much design wall time it took to get that eye-catching layout!

That's it for now, enjoy your day, sew forth and sew on til later!

More quilt show eye candy

Three things to be happy about:
(1) a gentle reminder
(2) sleeping late
(3) fresh ginger

More pictures from the quilt show - I love houses!

Especially if they're wonky.  I didn't note any sizes but I think this one was something like 10 x 14?

Anyway, it's cute!  Here are some more small ones....

Isn't it interesting how different people can take the same pattern and, if they choose their own colors and theme, they'll make something radically different?
I think these were the result of a foundation piecing class.

More small quilts...

I told Felicia we need to challenge each other and make small quilts, they can be as simple as a quilt block.   I think these were 12 x 12!

Change of pace... this vendor had patterns and tools for making woven baskets and purses...

after we left the booth we put our heads together ... uh-huh... go to Home Depot, get a dowel and some pvc pipe...

I like a play on words, I do it every now and then...
spring chickens!

sitting duck!

uhm... flipping the bird!
Let's finish with two great pictorials!

That's it for now, sew forth and sew on til later!

Quilters Unlimited quilt show

Three things to be happy about:
(1) planting flowers
(2) backyard bbq
(3) red nail polish

Yesterday I went to the Virginia Quilters Unlimited quilt show at the Dulles Expo Center with Felicia, her friend Jackie and our friend Gwen from the Wee Bee.

It was a wonderful show and, as usual, we made a bee line for the vendors to see what was new, unusual or that we couldn't live without!

I'm pleased to say I only made two purchases  - 5 fat quarters and a bag of batik scraps!

I liked this quilt, it's definitely going on my "gotta make one day" list!

I like it's "modern" flavor a lot; the fabrics weren't all solid though, mostly small prints.

I saw three quilts from workshops by Bonnie Hunter of Quiltville:

Jamestown Landing, Virginia Bound...
and look!  They already made my black and white Strip Twist!

Circles, we were surrounded by circles!

This selvedge spiderweb intrigued me:

closeup!  see that border treatment?
I've been saving selvedges a long time but I don't have that many.  When I feel I have enough I'll either make something out of them or give em away to a good home!

We saw some beautiful quilts and the show was great but we wanted to get off our feet and besides - it was munch time!

After debating whether we "should  have bought this" or "maybe I don't really  need that" we drove over to Famous Dave's BBQ for some well deserved lunch!

I pigged out (forgive the pun!) on bbq spare ribs and chopped pork, yum!

My grand plan for the rest of the afternoon was to settle down for a nice nap when I got home, but I got two phone calls and yadda yadda yadda - I was wide awake.  Oh well.

I didn't show you very many quilts, did I?  There were gobs of pretty quilts and I have more to show you that I'll spread out over the next few posts.  I'm thinking a whole bunch of pictures might make the page load too slow (does anyone still use dial-up?  Do they even have it anymore???)

Well, that's it for now, get out and enjoy your Sunday, sew forth and sew on til later!
