Yesterday morning was so nice I wanted to share my mid-morning walk with you! I don't walk that far, but I figure "some" is better than "none." I had been thinking about selling my house and relocating, but after weighing the pros and cons for about six months, I decided to stay put. After all, it's paid for and is within walking distance of so many things. IF I decide to sell, I notice that the houses on my street sell quickly. For example, my neighbor down on the other side of the street is being relocated to Bulgaria; he put his house on the market in late March, it sold by mid-May for just over half a million. Friday they were loading a moving van and a cargo container with his things, but when I thought to get a shot of the cargo container, it had left.
But I digress ... now on with my walk.
Here's one thing about this neighborhood that I find intriguing...
you can see new high-rise apartments and condos just around the corner from older, more architecturally designed homes!
Here's a church...
It's really a diverse neighborhood; you can eat...
and get your hair done...
and eat...
and shop...
and eat...
and walk your dog!
There are at least two hardware stores, a wine-and-gift shop, day spa, 3 banks, a fire station, an EMT station, 2 cleaners, a Vitamin Shoppe, Target, Best Buy, fitness center, Metro stations - you name it.
I finally reached my first destination - needed new sandals...
they were having a "buy one, get one at half price" sale at Shoe Source!
Get your copies made at Staples or FedEx, then have coffee at Starbuck's! This friendly guy having coffee wanted his picture took...
Vendors and a musician around the fountain...
the kids really love splashing in this fountain!
This vendor was selling earrings made from bottle caps - yeowwch! Some interesting jewelry though...
I bought this necklace...
I wanted some strawberries from the Giant!
Yes, I can hang in this area awhile longer, it has a lot to offer. It was a pleasant two hours; I came home, had lunch and worked on my Motown quilt - which I changed my mind on twice more in three hours before settling on my final, final, I swear FINAL... design!
Thanks for the tour! How nice that so much is within walking distance!

I don't think I would move if I could walk around there. That fountain looks like one not far from my son's place. We took the kids there to splash.
ReplyDeleteHi Linda It has been so long since I have blogged and after checking in to see what everyone has been up to I found this post of yours. I miss living in DC more than I can find words to explain. There is nothing like it and from where you are showing pictures it looks like a area that I am very familiar with I would never move if I lived there. Have a wonderful weekend ahead
